Title II of DQSA, the Drug Supply Chain and Security Act, establishes requirements that allow pharmaceutical drug products to be traced and tracked as they move through the supply chain. The requirements of the DSCSA include the implementation and assignment of unique device identifiers, individual codes that will enable tracking of individual drugs and products.
Such requirements are being phased in over the next seven years. The Pew Initiatives Health Safety Project has released a timeline outlining key implementation dates for each of the sectors affected by DSCSA: manufacturers, repackagers, wholesale distributors and dispensers.
The timeline presents each requirement as it relates to each sector as well as how the DSCSA will affect relationships between sectors.
