Drug distributors will pay $7.5M to settle overtime suit

Pharmaceutical wholesalers Cardinal Health and Kinray agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle allegations that they violated labor laws by denying delivery drivers overtime wages, according to legal news website Law360.

The lawsuit claimed the pharmaceutical wholesalers misclassified delivery drivers as independent contractors to avoid paying them for overtime. 

Under the settlement, the 115 workers would receive about $2,500 each and $2.5 million for attorney fees. 

A New York federal judge must sign off on the deal.
