DHL exec: 3 tech solutions innovating healthcare supply chain

Healthcare organizations face increasing regulations in the logistics, transportation and supply chain sectors, which accelerates the adoption of new technologies, according to Scott Allison, president of life sciences and healthcare sector for DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation.

Mr. Allison shared three technologies transforming the healthcare supply chain in a recent post for Healthcare Packaging.

  1. Real-time tracking — Many healthcare organizations are implementing technology solutions that rely on artificial intelligence and sensors to offer end-to-end monitoring and tracking for products as they travel through the supply chain, according to the report.

  1. Risk management solutions — This technology often uses data analytics to define risk levels and identify worst-case scenarios to ensure the organization has set appropriate contingency plans, according to Mr. Allison.

  1. Demand forecasting capabilities — Healthcare organizations can use big data analytics to transform raw data into meaningful information to predict demand, improve inventory management and identify areas of potential growth, according to the report.
