CVS rolls out medication management tool: 4 things to know

CVS Pharmacy on Wednesday launched a medication management tool designed to help patients taking multiple prescription drugs.

Here are four things to know.

1. The ScriptPath Prescription Schedule tool analyzes all of a patient's current CVS prescriptions and develops a schedule with the most effective times to take each drug.

2. The schedule, which pharmacists can print and give to the patient, contains all the patient's prescription information in one place, including medication name, dosing and when to take the drug.

3. The printed schedule contains instructional symbols that align with symbols featured on a medication's labeling.

4. The ScriptPatch Prescription Schedule is now available upon request at all 9,700 CVS pharmacies nationwide.

"Fifty percent of patients struggle with understanding how and when to take their prescription medications, and for those with complex prescription regimens it can be even more challenging," said Troyen Brennan, MD, executive vice president and CMO of CVS Health. "By providing them with a clear and concise dosing schedule ... we can help improve medication adherence and, ultimately, health outcomes."
