The name change, announced Nov. 5, combines the word “care” with the syllable “vio.” In Latin, vio means road or pathway. ChristianaCare said the name “conveys the service’s unique approach to helping people get on the right track to optimal health.” The care management platform also comes with a new tagline: “Linking Care. Improving Health.”
ChristianaCare launched CareVio in 2012 with a $10 million, three-year federal grant. The grant from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation aimed to help providers test alternative payment models.
Today, with the help of 50 healthcare professionals and data analytics, CareVio manages care for more than 100,000 patients.
