South Lake Tahoe, Calif.-based Barton Health is the latest U.S. system to join Cleveland Clinic’s Connected program, which gives member organizations access to Cleveland Clinic branding, consultative services and education opportunities.

“By joining Cleveland Clinic Connected, Barton seeks to elevate its care delivery through unique access to Cleveland Clinic’s clinical expertise and specialized resources,” the organizations said in a joint news release July 30. “This collaboration will support the development of more comprehensive service lines in key areas that significantly impact the health of its community, including cardiology, oncology, and neurology.”

Cleveland Clinic created the network about three years ago, aiming to “build a global network of independent, like-minded, quality-focused organizations” to improve patient outcomes globally. Barton Health is the third U.S.-based institution to join the network, alongside Columbus (Ind.) Regional Health and Titusville, Fla.-based Parrish Medical Center. The program also has two member hospitals in Vietnam.

The Connected program involves a deeper level of collaboration than Cleveland Clinic’s other partnerships. Member institutions receive direct support in strategic planning, operational efficiency and quality improvement, while continuing to operate independently, the release said.

As a new member, Barton Health will work with Cleveland Clinic experts to expand cardiology and neurology services, launch a new cancer program and plan for a new hospital campus in Nevada.
