Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is planning to expand its footprint and pediatric services across metro Atlanta as Patrick Frias, MD, officially assumes the CEO role.
The system aims to put its pediatric services within 30 minutes of every family in metro Atlanta as part of its “More Than Possible” strategy, according to an Aug. 31 health system news release.
It recently opened a primary care office in Atlanta’s Adamsville neighborhood, which has seen 500 new patients since opening in late June.Children’s also recently purchased land in Sandy Springs, Ga., to support future growth. The system said it will make further announcements about the location in the future, and plans to expand existing locations and add new sites.
Beyond metro Atlanta, Children’s is adding pediatricians and services in rural Georgia through a partnership with Macon, Ga.-based Mercer University School of Medicine and its Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center. The partnership includes a scholarship program for physicians who commit to serving rural areas, which now has 34 committed future physicians.
Dr. Frias succeeded Donna Hyland, who retired after leading the organization since 2008. Dr. Frias most recently served as co-president and CEO of Rady Children’s Health in Southern California.
