California hospital to hire strategy and growth leader

Ventura (Calif.) County Medical Center officials voted to hire a strategy and growth executive to improve the hospital's finances, according to the VC Star.

Four things to know:

1. The Ventura County Health Care Agency board of supervisors unanimously voted to create the position Feb. 26.

2. The official, who will receive an annual salary between $157,000 and $220,000, will be expected to bring new business to the hospital. The individual will also have the opportunity to make an additional $25,000 per year for achieving certain financial goals for the hospital.

3. Hospital officials told the publication they hope the individual in the position will improve VUMC's bottom line. The hospital finished the last fiscal year with a deficit of almost $8 million, according to the report.

4. The board of supervisors will hold a final vote on the position March 12. Hospital officials hope to hire someone for the role by April.
