Bon Secours Mercy saved $18M using its employee health solutions. Now other employers can use them

Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health unveiled a new solution for employers to help their employees better understand healthcare costs.

Bon Secours Mercy Health's employer health solutions brand, Harness Health Partners, aims to increase healthcare engagement among employees through concierge services, pharmacy solutions and occupational medicine, among other services.

The solution was first used among Bon Secours Mercy Health's employees. The health system saved $18 million in 2018 using the human performance solution. Now, employers outside of Bon Secours Mercy Health can use Harness Health Partners.

"The average employer spends almost $15,000 per employee with 5 percent of prescription claims driving 50 percent of total prescription benefit spend," Marcia Swehla, vice president of direct-to-employer at Bon Secours Mercy Health, said in a prepared statement. "In this climate, comprehensive solutions are vital to positively impacting a company's bottom line."
