Northeast Regional Medical Center Beefs Up Cardio Services to Compete in Region

Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo., has opened a new heart center and added two new cardiologists as part of an effort to attract patients to the hospital and prevent them from needing to travel to Columbia, Mo., for healthcare needs, according to a Kirksville Daily Express report.

In addition to a new heart center, the hospital now provides 24/7 cardiologist on-call support for patients with heart issues or problems like chest pain. Previously, patients with chest pain and suspected heart issues would immediately be sent by helicopter to Columbia, said NRMC CEO Eric Barber in the report.
