Florida Hospitals Expand to Suburbs for Long-Term Growth

Hospitals in Tampa, Fla., are increasingly looking to expand to the suburbs to ensure long-term growth, according to a Tampa Tribune report.

For instance, Tampa General Hospital opened an office in Brandon, Fla., and Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System is planning to break ground on medical offices this fall.

Hospitals' expansion into the suburbs is a strategy designed to attract new patients, build relationships with community-based family physicians and increase access to care, according to the report. Hospitals, such as Tampa General, are also employing family physicians to boost referrals as part of this strategy.
