The whitepaper, “Designing a Results-Driven Execution Management System,” describes the six-step “Execution Flywheel” methodology to execute a strategic plan. Here are the six phases:

1. Focus. Understand the risks that should be considered in the strategic planning process.

2. Plan. Develop a plan to move toward the organization’s vision.

3. Align. Cascade objectives to managers throughout the organization, and develop and launch an internal communications program.

4. Forecast. Use the estimated costs of strategic plan execution as budget assumptions.

5. Monitor. Execute the strategic plan, monitor objectives, and adapt strategies as needed.

6. Report. Review strategic plan execution successes and failures, and discuss solutions.
