Emporia, Kan.-based Newman Regional Health plans to launch a two-year telehealth initiative backed by a $485,000 grant.
The Telehealth for Rural Health Equity Initiative is designed to expand telehealth services across the hospital’s primary care clinics and emergency department, according to an Oct. 7 news release from the health system. By the end of 2026, Newman Regional Health plans to provide outpatient telehealth services in cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, high-risk obstetrics and behavioral health.
The initiative is funded by the Patterson Family Foundation and aims to reduce geographic and logistical barriers to care.
Newman Regional Health said it is aligning the project with priorities identified in its 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment. Key objectives include building telehealth infrastructure, training staff, improving disease management outcomes and boosting satisfaction among patients and clinical teams.
