The National Rural Health Association released its annual list of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the U.S., based on an evaluation of prospective payment system hospitals by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
The list, released March 24, uses the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX to assess hospital performance. Eight factors are used to determine the top 20 hospitals: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance.
Here are the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the U.S., listed in alphabetical order:
