The rankings, released June 22, are based on examination of about 3,000 communities across 89 health and health-related metrics in 10 categories. The categories range from population health to infrastructure. Within the environment category, the latest fifth annual edition of the rankings for the first time incorporates new data to reflect the risk of a community for negative effects from natural disasters.
