More than half of the community hospitals in Nevada and Texas are for-profit facilities, according to data compiled by KFF.
The data, current as of 2024, comes from the American Hospital Association’s annual survey. It reflects community hospitals, which make up 85% of all hospitals in the U.S., according to KFF.
Here are the nine states and Washington, D.C., where at least one-third of community hospitals are for-profit:
1. Nevada: 59%
2. Texas: 51%
3. Florida: 49%

T-4. New Mexico: 43%
6. Louisiana: 42%
7. Tennessee: 39%
8. Delaware: 36%
9. Oklahoma: 35%
10. Washington, D.C.: 33%
