Forbes highlighted strong physician access in several of the 25 cities it named as the best places to retire for leisure pursuits, according to the Oct. 2 article.

Forbes screened nearly 1,000 U.S. locales, removed places with very high natural hazard and climate change risk under FEMA’s National Risk Index, and then compared the remaining cities on six retirement passions: arts and culture, fine dining, lifelong learning, outdoor water activities, outdoor land activities and golf.

The analysis also weighed quality-of-life measures, including the number of primary care physicians per capita, violent crime rates, air quality, walkability and bikeability.

Here are the eight cities Forbes cited for strong physician access:

Ann Arbor, Mich.

Ashland, Ore.

Austin, Texas

Boston

Boulder, Colo.

Iowa City, Iowa

Portland, Maine

Tucson, Ariz.
