Mississippi reported the lowest vaccination rate of any state in the 2024-25 flu season, according to a Sept. 9 analysis by WalletHub.

For its analysis of state vaccination trends, including flu vaccination, WalletHub compared the 50 states and Washington, D.C., in 16 metrics across three main domains: vaccination rates for children and teenagers; vaccination rates for adults and the elderly; and vaccination disparities. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with the weighted average across all metrics determining each state’s overall rank.

The analysis used data from several federal and nonprofit sources, including the CDC, U.S. Census Bureau and KFF. Learn more about the methodology here.
