YouGov, a site that measures and publishes the public’s perceptions and opinions on a variety of topics on a daily basis, ranked the health systems using its BrandIndex’s Buzz score, which asks respondents, “If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?”
Buzz scores can range from 100 to -100 and are calculated by subtracting negative feedback from positive. So a score of zero means a brand has had an equal amount of negative and positive “buzz.”
The following five health systems’ brands had the highest average Buzz score between January and June 2016.
No. 1: Cancer Treatment Centers of America (Boca Raton, Fla.) — Score of 21.3
No. 2: Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.) — Score of 16
No. 3: Johns Hopkins Medicine (Baltimore) — Score of 10.9
No. 4: Cleveland Clinic — Score of 6.8
No. 5: University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center — Score of 4.8
