Deciding where to spend your retirement can be overwhelming, as the choices seem endless. While several studies rank best and worst states for retirement, there are often discrepancies among them, according to MoneyWise.

MoneyWise, a digital personal finance publication, used three annual studies that rank the best and worst states for retirement to create a master list. They used studies from personal finance websites Bankrate and WalletHub and personal finance magazine Kiplinger to develop average rankings for each state.
