Two hospitals received the 2025 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s only presidential honor recognizing performance excellence.
The award is based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework and administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, according to a Feb. 19 news release. It focuses on organizational resilience and demonstrates systematic approaches to sustaining high performance. Eighteen organizations across industries applied for the award, but only two, both in the healthcare sector, won the award for 2025.
Both organizations exemplified sustained excellence in servicing patients and communities through leadership, results-driven management and operational systems, the release said. Only 32 hospitals have ever received this recognition.
The award winners for 2025 are Nor Lea Hospital District in Lovington, N.M., and Northwell Glen Cove (N.Y.) Hospital.
The Baldrige judges also recognized four organizations for the Best Practice Spotlight, two of which were hospitals: Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Md., and Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. These organizations were recognized for exemplary practices that can serve as role models for others.
