11 best hospitals and health systems for diversity

DiversityInc honored 11 hospitals and health systems across the U.S. for excelling in diversity management as part of its annual Top Hospitals and Health Systems list.

DiversityInc, which aims to highlight the business benefits of diversity in the workplace, ranks healthcare organizations as a specialty list included in its annual ranking of the nation's Top 50 Companies for Diversity.

To identify the top hospitals and health systems, DiversityInc assessed each organization on four key areas of diversity management:

  • Talent Pipeline: Workforce breakdown, recruitment and diameter of existing talent
  • Talent development: Employee resource groups, mentoring, philanthropy, movement and fairness
  • Leadership accountability: Responsible for results, personal communications and visibility
  • Supplier diversity: Spend with companies owned by people from underrepresented groups, accountability and support

Here are the 11 hospitals and health systems that made the list.

1. Mount Sinai Health System (New York City)
2. Methodist Health System (Dallas)
