To select the best and worst states for nurses in 2019, WalletHub analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across two key dimensions: opportunity and competition, and work environment. Analysts evaluated those two dimensions using 21 metrics, including nurses’ average annual salary, monthly average starting salary and mandatory overtime restrictions.
