10 best cities for PAs

Pittsburgh, Hartford, Conn., and New York City were among the top 10 best cities for physician assistants based on the number of jobs available, according to a recent survey by online storage marketplace SpareFoot.

For the survey, SpareFoot teamed up with employment search engine Indeed to discover the 10 best cities for PAs. The company ranked cities across four characteristics — job availability, average annual salary, median home price and median annual rent — and combined each individual score to determine an overall ranking. Researchers added more weight to the job availability category. Home price and annual average rent were sourced through online real estate marketplace Zillow.

Here are the top 10 cities with the most job opportunities for PAs, including ties, according to SpareFoot.

  1. Hartford, Conn.
  2. Durham, N.C.
  3. Pittsburgh
  4. Raleigh, N.C.
  5. Charlotte, N.C.
  6. Philadelphia
  7. Riverside, Calif.
  8. Baltimore
  9. Orlando, Fla.
  10. New York City
