In December, UT Health San Antonio will become the first health system in Texas to house  Siemens’ Magnetom Terra.X 7 Tesla MRI system.

The system will serve as an additional tool for diagnosing diseases of the brain, such as dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and will not replace traditional MRI,  according to an Oct. 8 news release from the health system.

The Magnetom Terra.X  is capable of switching between FDA-approved clinical and research modes within minutes, the release said.
