Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio Updates Radiology Department

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in Boardman, Ohio, is upgrading its radiology department, according to a hospital news release.

The department is installing new equipment, upgrading software and redesigning rooms and machinery to create a more child-friendly environment. For example, the hospital is adding child-friendly paint and decals on the radiology equipment and throughout the department to make the space more appealing to children.  

Newly acquired equipment includes a Transcranial Doppler, a MRI-compatible general anesthesia machine and a CT scanner.

The project is primarily funded by a $1 million donation from the Kikel Charitable Trust.
