The University of Cincinnati, UC Health, Cincinnati Children’s, GE HealthCare and JobsOhio have opened a new imaging research and development center on the university’s medical campus.
The facility houses a GE HealthCare 3T wide-bore MRI scanner and is one of only a handful of centers worldwide with the technology, according to a May 28 news release. The center will unite researchers, clinicians and scientists to advance imaging innovation, support clinical trials and expand access to imaging technologies.
Research at the center will focus on improving diagnostic accuracy, enhancing patient comfort and supporting personalized care. Projects will range from investigator-initiated studies and pilot programs to national and international clinical trials.
The center also will support workforce development by creating opportunities for engineers, technologists, clinicians and researchers to collaborate. Researchers will evaluate advanced MRI technologies, including imaging biomarkers for early disease detection, targeted treatments and AI-enabled workflow improvements, the release said.
