Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Health’s department of radiology has been awarded a $2.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to advance dual-energy imaging.

The innovation of interest, PET-enabled dual-energy CT, combines PET and CT technologies, allowing providers to “see not just where something is happening in the body, but also what it’s made of,” according to an Aug. 7 news release from the health system.

The imaging technique was invented in the lab of Guobao Wang, PhD, professor of radiology at UC Davis, the release said.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
