Six international radiology groups have issued a guideline statement on the use of AI in pediatric imaging. The statement was published Nov. 25 in Pediatric Radiology.
The statement outlines four pillars for AI adoption: regulation and purchasing; implementation and integration; interpretation and post-market surveillance; and education.
The groups recommend a phased implementation strategy “involving early pilot testing, stakeholder engagement and comprehensive post-market surveillance with continuous monitoring of defined performance benchmarks,” the statement authors wrote, while also emphasizing the importance of AI literacy courses for healthcare professionals.
The guideline was published by the American College of Radiology, the European Society for Pediatric Research, the Society for Pediatric Radiology, the Latin American Society of Pediatric Radiology, the Asian and Oceanic Society for Paediatric Radiology and the Society of Pediatric Neuroimaging.
