However, the insurer still reported a 6.3 percent year-over-year increase, with 35.7 million members as of June 30, 2013, compared to 33.5 million at June 30, 2012.

For the six months ended June 30, 2013, WellPoint reported a net income of $1.7 billion, a 12.3 percent increase from $1.5 billion in the first six months of 2012. Total revenues went up by 15.1 percent, from about $30.8 billion in the first six months of 2012 to $35.5 billion this year.
