In July, CMS approved the Medicaid demonstration program put forth by Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber, MD, which included $1.9 billion in federal funding over five years. The Medicaid CCOs will focus on the integration of health services, reduction of administrative overhead and improvement of patient-centered care.
Health Share of Oregon includes some of the state’s largest hospitals and health systems, such as Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, Portland-based Oregon Health & Science University Hospital and Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services.
