Multistate Health Plan Rule Issued

Federal healthcare regulators issued new rules regarding multistate health plans that allow health insurers to meet federal criteria instead of that of each state.

Health insurers that receive contracts to manage multistate plans will still need to meet most of the health insurance regulations mandated by each state covered in the plan, but a federal bundle of regulations may be permitted to supersede the states’ in some cases.
