Cigna-HealthSpring Transaction Receives Antitrust Approval

Health insurer Cigna’s acquisition of HealthSpring, one of the country’s largest Medicare Advantage plans, has received federal antitrust approval, which satisfies one of the transaction’s conditions, according to a Cigna news release.

The transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2012 and still must earn approval from HealthSpring stockholders and undergo state regulatory reviews.
