10 States With the Highest, Lowest Hospital Care Spending Per Capita

Of all states in the country, Utah has the lowest hospital spending at $1,830 per person, while Alaska has the highest figures at $3,879 per person for hospital care, according to data from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The figures are from 2009, the latest year available for state-by-state hospital spending per capita. Here are the 10 states with the lowest and highest hospital spending per capita. Note: Hospital care includes all services provided by hospitals to patients, such as room and board, ancillary charges and all other services billed by hospitals.
