As part of a pilot initiative, nurses at the WVU Cancer Institute wore a citrus oil patch on their badge for two months this summer. Nurses reported several positive benefits from the essential oil patch, including reduced stress and a better mood.
Marni Reven, RN, an aromatherapist and WVU Medicine nurse who spearheaded the initiative, shared her results at the Ohio County Public Library on Sept. 7. Ms. Reven plans to expand her research into the benefits of essential oils for clinicians.
“We have a lot of good stories but how do you get the evidence so the medical community can start taking it seriously and use it with their patients?” she said during the presentation, according to WWTRF 7News.
