Women's Choice Award names 2016 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience

Patient experience is an important factor women consider when selecting a hospital for themselves or their loved ones. To help, the Women's Choice Award has announced its 2016 list America's 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience.

The list recognizes hospitals that create a superior patient experience for women and their families by providing exceptional care.

Women's Choice Award selects hospitals using scores derived from the HCAHPS database. They focus on the HCAHPS measures women indicated on a national survey are most important to them. Then, awards are given to the hospitals with the best 100 scores in each of the four bed size categories (less than 100, 101 to 250 beds, 251 to 400 beds, and over 400 beds).

For 2016, the most important considerations were patient's willingness to recommend, physician and nurse communications, staff help, pain management, cleanliness and explanation of medications — in that order.

"Women are the chief medical officer for the household, making upwards of 90 percent of all healthcare decisions," said Delia Passi, CEO and founder of the Women's Choice Award. "Considering she bears the responsibility of making these incredibly important decisions, the Women's Choice Award offers her a trusted solution to identifying the hospitals that have proven superior patient experience."
