Which states have the most CMS 5-star hospitals?

Just 251 hospitals earned the highest possible star rating as part of CMS’ Hospital Compare’s new rating system, and some states have many more five-star hospitals than others.

Texas has the most five-star hospitals, clocking in at 31, according to numbers provided by Kaiser Health News.

The following are the eight states that have 10 or more five-star hospitals within their boarders.

1. Texas — 31

2. Wisconsin — 25

3. Louisiana — 17

4. Ohio — 15

5. Illinois — 13

6. Minnesota — 12

7. Iowa — 11

8. Indiana — 10
