AHA Announces Leaders of Section for Small or Rural Hospitals

The American Hospital Association has announced Alvin Hoover, CEO of King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, Miss., as the chair of the governing council for its Section for Small or Rural Hospitals.

Paul Bengston, CEO of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in Saint Johnsbury, was named chair-elect. He will become chairman of the section’s governing council in 2014.

New members elected to serve three-year terms on the 24-member council include:

•    Verna S. Meacham, president and CEO, Nexus Health, National Harbor, Md.
•    Thomas Nordwick, president and CEO, Adams Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Ind.
•    Rachelle Schultz, president and CEO, Winona Health, Winona, Minn.
•    Patrick Wallace, administrator, East Texas Medical Center Athens, Athens, Texas
•    Ted Stubblefield, trustee representative, NorthCrest Medical Center, Springfield, Tenn.

Roger J. Reamer, CEO of Memorial Health Care Systems in Seward, Neb., was appointed to serve as the AHA Board Liason.
