For the study, researchers assessed 901 reported outbreaks among Toronto healthcare facilities. They found healthcare facilities were less likely to report outbreaks on Saturdays and Sundays and more likely to report outbreaks on Mondays and Fridays. The researcher concluded this may be due to “deadline” and “catch-up” reporting caused by weekend staffing.
