Top 10 counties hit with the most flu outbreaks so far

National Influenza Vaccination Week began Sunday and will continue through Dec. 12. During this year's NIVW, the CDC estimates vaccine manufacturers will distribute as many as 179 million doses this year — more than ever before.

Here are the top 10 counties and their leading cities that have been hit with the highest flu rates so far, according to Practice Fusion.

1. Ocean County, N.J. — Leading city: Lakewood
2. Kings County, N.Y. — Leading city: Brooklyn
3. Miami-Dade County, Fla. — Leading city: Hialeah
4. Shasta County, Calif. — Leading city: Redding
5. Orange County, Calif. — Leading city: Westminster
6. Hidalgo County, Texas — Leading city: Mission
7. Queens County, New York — Leading city: Queens
8. Wayne County, Michigan — Leading city: Detroit
9. Middlesex County, New Jersey — Leading city: Perth Amboy
10. Cook County, Illinois — Leading city: Chicago
