The order of suspension was made by Tennessee Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, and went into effect Dec. 19. The order will stand until the safety issues at the 180-bed licensed nursing home have been resolved. According to a release, safety violations at the facility were identified in the areas of administration, performance improvement, physician services, infection control, nursing services and resident rights.

The suspension order was issued in tandem with a $5,001 state fine. A monitoring agent has been appointed by the state health department to review operations at Brookhaven Manor.
