Surgical Technologist Certification Bill Fails in Florida

Senate Bill 362, which would have required education and certification of surgical technologists in Florida healthcare facilities, did not pass in the House of Representatives, according to an AORN article.

The proposal was introduced in January and underwent two amendments to include supervision by an attending surgeon and registered nurse. The bill passed the Senate in March; however, the House did not take any action as it only had four days to consider the bill before the end of the state legislative session.
