Reported rates of central line-associated bloodstream infections differ based on whether hospitals measure rates based on claims data or based on National Healthcare Safety Network criteria, according to a study in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.
Researchers studied the discordance of CLABSI events reported from chart reviews, which use the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s NHSN criteria, with CLABSI events reported from claims data.
