Study: Physician Performance in Cardiac Surgery Improved by Simulation Training

Anesthesia residents who had been given simulation training performed significantly better at weaning patients from cardiopulmonary bypass than residents who had undergone only standard classroom training, according to a study published in the April edition of Anesthesiology.

The study supports the argument that simulation-based training should be integrated more fully into medical education, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
