Researchers compared patient satisfaction scores with Surgical Care Improvement Program compliance and staff safety attitudes in 31 participating hospitals during the two-year study period (2009-2010).

While the results showed patient satisfaction to not be an indicator of surgical quality, researchers did note a correlation between patient satisfaction and several individual aspects of the overall employee safety culture, including employee teamwork and stress recognition.
