Study Identifies Risk Factors for Catheter-Related Blood Stream Infections

Researchers identified six risk factors for hospital-acquired peripherally inserted central venous catheter–related blood stream infections, according to a study in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.

Researchers studied adult patients with PICCs placed from Jan. 1, 2006 through July 31, 2008 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
