St. Joseph's/Candler Health System Receives $100k Prize for Community Service

St. Joseph's/Candler Health System in Savannah, Ga., was awarded the 2012 Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service for its efforts in improving the health of the community, according to an AHA News Now report.

St. Joseph's/Candler's programs address disparities in care, access to care, basic life issues like housing and nutrition as well as education, according to the report.


The $100,000 prize is sponsored by the Baxter International Foundation, the American Hospital Association and the Health Research & Educational Trust. Seton Healthcare Family in Austin, Texas, Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center and Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital were finalists and received $10,000 each.
