Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital. Yale-New Haven Hospital supports commuting employees through transit pass subsidies, bike storage and other programs, resulting in decreased car usage and, therefore, decreased greenhouse gas emissions. The hospital also sells locally produced foods and features a biodigester in its kitchen that safely decomposes nearly all organic food waste. The hospital’s efforts were recognized by Practice Greenhealth this year, as it won the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award and won all six of the Circles of Excellence Awards.
