Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital formally committed to environmental sustainability in 2005 when it established its Green Environmental Management System in June 2005. GEMS encourages employees to comply with all applicable environmental requirements, preventing pollution, reducing waste and conserving energy and water. The hospital’s hard work was recognized in 2016 when it earned a Greenhealth Emerald Award and a Greening the OR Recognition Award from Practice Greenhealth.
