UH-Ahuja Medical Center (Beachwood, Ohio). University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center was designed to integrate nature and improve sustainability. The campus features an abundance of native plants that collect water runoff and reduce water consumption, and the hospital’s light-colored roofing reflects sunlight and lowers energy use. UH Ahuja Medical Center’s green design features earned a LEED Silver certification from the USGBC in 2009. Beyond its construction, the medical center participates in all six HHI Challenges to help lower its environmental footprint.
